La Crau, Provence, France. 8 May 2008 This was an early morning shot of a bird obligingly sitting by the roadside. It permitted me to go past, turn around and crawl back up to quite close. After a few minutes it departed, just as I was thinking of ways of getting closer. Some reward for an early start, and 'fighting' my way out of the Fort Knox-like hotel we were staying in!
