  Jack Snipe, Titchwell, Norfolk

13 October 2018

With some success late in the afternoon of the previous day (see below), went back in the morning of the following day with the 500mm lens. Getting it clear of cover required considerable patience! Still a distant resulting in a big crop.

A more typical shot - obscured by vegetation.

Out in the open again.

12 October 2018

My first views of this species on the ground! And two together briefly. Massive crop on this shot taken with my 100-400mm lens.
  Pink-footed Goose, North Norfolk

11 October 2018

These geese are pretty wary but I managed to use the car as a hide to get fairly close to this flock one evening that was feeding quite close to a small road.
  Little Egret, Titchwell, Norfolk

9 October 2018

One of a couple of snaps taken as we were leaving in the late afternoon as the sun was getting low. Tremendous contrast between this white bird and its surroundings.

  Spotted Redshank, Titchwell, Norfolk

9 October 2018

Just one reasonably close at the far end of the tidal lagoon. Good afternoon light!
  Barred Warbler, Whalsey Hills, Norfolk

8 October 2018

About the only rarity we came across on this trip. Being typically skulking here, but it did come out further briefly from time to time.
  Turnstone, Brancaster Staithe, Norfolk

7 October 2018

Very close as the tide came in.
  Black-tailed Godwits, Brancaster Staithe, Norfolk

7 October 2018

Some Blackwit argy-bargy as the tide came in.

Tree Sparrow, RSPB Bempton Cliffs, Yorks

4 October 2018

Nice to see these around the car park area - very scarce in Oxon now.

4 October 2018

Great to be back here - a site I first visited in 1964! The cliffs haven't changed much I don't think since then, but the visitor facilities have certainly improved!

Plenty of Gannets down below on the cliffs, but the challenge was getting them at eye level or as near as possible. For this a wind is needed, preferably on-shore I was told. There was wind for my two visits, but it was in the reverse direction!

It was good to have a bit of sun on my second visit - there wasn't any on my first visit (see below).
