UK Bird Pics Autumn 2008

Coming to a feeder near the visitor centre.

I have been after Nuthatch pics for some time, and was amazed to find how tame these birds were. Unfortunately the light was poor today, with very dull conditions almost all day.

Thanks to Dan Trim for prior information about where to find these birds.

From the Woodland Hide which is 'state-of-the-art' with one way glass! Fortunately one of the side windows opens to give views of a feeder and nearby perches.

Also from this hide were Lesser Redpoll, Siskin, Brambling, Marsh Tit & Nuthatch.

Momentarily still! These high-speed birds racing along the sands were at least easier to get near than the Godwits below.

It was difficult to get close to these wary birds. This was the sharpest of many shots taken before the tide came in and they all flew off onto the reserve.

Bearded Tit, Titchwell, Norfolk

24 October 2008

Reasonably sharp, considering how small this was in the original frame! A few seconds later two birds appeared very briefly right out in the open on the tops of the reeds, but unfortunately they were too quick for me.

Turnstone, Salthouse, Norfolk

An obliging bird.

Greylag Goose, Cley - East Bank, Norfolk

22 October 2008

Flew over the east bank, while we were trying to identify distant waders.

Black headed Gull, Cley Beach, Norfolk

22 October 2008

Not many birds around in the late afternoon, but the low, bright sun made for a worthwhile shot of this common species, I thought.

Whooper Swan, Welney WWT, Norfolk

With the sun out!

Landing near the main hide. A shame the sun wasn't out.
