Another Kingfisher! This time an immature (male?).

A close approach in sunny conditions!

Kingfisher, Oxon
10 August 2022
A surprise visitor that unfortunately didn't stay long. One
unsuccessful dive and it was off. Looks like an adult female to
me.
Nice to get some
Kingfisher shots without needing to use a pay hide, even if it
was a little distant and the perch less than ideal.

Returning from its dive.

Green Sandpiper, Oxon
5 August 2022
Nice to see a hint of wader passage! Although this bird started to
approach, it quickly thought better of it and vanished while my
attention was diverted. Hence it was some distance off for this
photo.

Cattle Egret, Oxon
20 July 2022
My first UK Cattle Egrets in breeding plumage - they look quite
impressive, especially here against a dark green background. A bit
distant though.

Cattle Egret, Oxon
20 July 2022
Presumably a pair - they were displaying a few minutes earlier!
Again somewhat distant.

Hobby, Oxon
20 July 2022
One somewhat distant pass and it was gone, unfortunately!

Great crested Grebes, Oxon
20 July 2022
I saw this family distantly a week ago and there were 3 small
young. Nice to see all have survived so far, and grown
appreciably, especially the larger one!
Shame about the
lack of sun for this photo.

Black-tailed Godwit, Standlake Pit 60, Oxon
12 July 2022
Didn't stay long but a nice bird for this site, still in full
summer plumage.

Great White Egret, Oxon
6 July 2022
Rather
distant but nice light at this point.

Common Sandpiper, Oxon
6 July 2022
Appeared very
briefly before being chased off by an irate Lapwing!

Lapwing, Oxon
1 July 2022
Nice light on
this Lapwing, just as I was leaving after a blank session until
this.

Curlew, Oxon
7 June 2022
Better weather today in
the morning and this Curlew came even closer than the one below. It
was frame filling!

Curlew, Oxon
11 May 2022
A morning of rain,
heavy at times. This Curlew suddenly appeared out of the blue
quite close.

Whimbrel, Standlake Pit 60, Oxon
4 May 2022
A
Whimbrel had been reported here a few days ago, but with nothing
since I was surprised to notice it quietly feeding in the grass.
Even more surprising was when it was joined by a second bird
somewhat later!
Never came very close unfortunately.

Flight shot but of a somewhat distant bird.

Cuckoo, West Oxon
26 April 2022
Horrible light
for this photo but lovely to have a Cuckoo away from Thursley
Common reasonably close! Very much
a silhouette but Photoshop has certainly helped with this one. A
hand held shot with the R5, 500f4 & x2TC. Not something I try very
often.

Lapwing, West Oxon
26 April 2022
Yet more nice
light, but not a lot to get excited about! This Lapwing briefly
came closer than the others.

Goosander, West Oxon
20 April 2022
Again nice
light. This Goosander is still lingering around but appears very
inactive at times and hence is probably unwell.

Little Egret, West Oxon
15 April 2022
Lovely
light this morning but this bird was a little distant. It appears
to be in breeding plumage.
