Superb Fairy Wren

O'Reilly's is a great "forest retreat" up in the hills of Lamington NP, south of Brisbane. It is a superb place for photographing birds as they are so tame. However during our 3 night stay, conditions were really challenging with almost continuous rain and poor light. In the rain of our first afternoon, we were heading towards a track where Albert's Lyrebird was possible when this delightful gem appeared below the centre buildings. It shortly flew onto a broad grassy area and was joined by others, so I spent some time trying to get some shots of them. I normally find good passerine photos difficult to come by, but for this shot this tiny bird was close enough for sharp results, and has a good pose, with my preferred low camera angle. Note the rain drops on the bird and falling all around!
