Oxon Bird Pics Autumn/Winter 2012/2013
	Barn Owl, Downs 17 February 2013 My first perched Barn Owl pic - just about sharp enough, but it was taken very much into the light. I just need a better one now...
	Kingfisher, Letcombe Bassett 17 February 2013 A lucky shot as this bird actually flew towards where I was waiting and perched not too far away! As ever, could have been closer - this is highly cropped, but the moss on the branch adds something to the composition.
	Sparrowhawk, Shellingford Pit 19 January 2013 This bird suddenly appeared quite close just as I was leaving, having seen an impressive flock of about 50 Snipe. Some reward for venturing out in the snow! This site also worked for me on a similarly snowy but much brighter Saturday, back in 2009. Click to enlarge
	Male Smew, Dix Pit 5 January 2013 It was quite a surprise to suddenly see two of these splendid male birds in flight over Dix pit. Fortunately they settled and stayed for a couple of hours, but were always distant and very wary.
	Slavonian Grebe, Farmoor 5 January 2013 I have been after a pic of one of the Farmoor Slavs for some time, and I finally got close enough today!
	Long tailed Duck, Baulking 15 December 2012 A distant but very smart bird. Adults are very rare in Oxon - we usually only get immatures. I am now back in Oxon after a great 3 week holiday in New Zealand - a trip report will appear in due course!
	Scaup, Farmoor 10 November 2012 Reasonably close in to the causeway on the F1 side. No doubt about the ID of this one - a nice well marked bird - presumably the adult female?
