	Hare, Farnborough, Berks 5 March 2021 Using the car as a hide, which can sometimes be fruitful up on the Downs. This was a bit distant for this shot. It and another then came much closer but I never managed to get onto them.
	Muntjac Deer, Standlake Pit 60 3 December 2020 Briefly emerged from cover albeit somewhat distantly from the hide. On a very dull morning.

	Fox cub, Thursley Common NNR, Hampshire 16 June 2018 Appeared towards the end of my session photographing Colin the Cuckoo! This was in broad daylight in mid/late afternoon. It was remarkably tame and was even eating someone's discarded sandwich, all of which suggests it was unwell or struggling to survive on its own. No sign of an adult. 	Common Pipistrelle Bat, Gilfach RWT, Wales 29 April 2017 It can't be often that a bat presents itself for photography in broad daylight, but this is just what this one did. It flew out of one building around the courtyard and landed on this roof opposite where it stayed for some time!
	Hedgehog, Starbotton, North Yorkshire 30 August 2015 An unexpected visitor in broad daylight to the front garden of the cottage we were staying in! Probably unwell but nice to see one of these - it must be many years since I've come across one.

	Otter Loch Gairloch, Highland, Scotland 14 July 2011 Taken from a standard 2hr tourist boat trip, which didn't venture out of the bay due to the poor weather conditions. This is hardly a prize winning photograph but not bad in the circumstances - quite distant subject, awful light (it started raining very shortly afterwards) and the rolling boat in the choppy water! 	Barbary Ground Squirrel Costa Calma, Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, Spain 10 February 2011 These introduced mammals were quite common on this island, but only on the west coast opposite Costa Calma did we find them as tame as this. Canon EOS 50D & EF 400mm f4 DO
	Water Vole, Freeman's Marsh, Hungerford, Berks, UK 12 December 2010 This cute mammal pic was some compensation for a second failed attempt to see the Glossy Ibis. 	Roe Deer, Shellingford Pit, Oxon, UK 20 October 2010 As I did my usual circuit of this site, I stumbled across this in the far corner. I'm not sure who was more surprised: me or the deer! 	Brown Rat, Luton, UK 30 November 2008 Looks almost appealing in this pose! Taken on an abortive three hour wait for a Red-breasted Flycatcher in cold, dank conditions. This bird had been present for almost a week, but was seen for the last time about 45 mins before I arrived. The perils of twitching! Canon EOS 40D & EF 400mm f4DO

	Minke Whale, off Gairloch, Scotland. August 2003 Seen from an excellent boat trip off Gairloch in the splendid summer of 2003 (even in Scotland!). This standard tourist trip also featured loads of auks, skuas etc. With Nikon CP 995.
